1926年デンマーク生まれ。コペンハーゲンの王立美術アカデミーで建築を専攻。アルネ・ヤコブセンに師事後、1955年建築デザイン事務所を設立。
ルイス・ポールセン社、フリッツ・ハンセン社、ヴィトラ社などから照明や家具など多くの作品を発表。1960年に発表された名作「Panton Chair」（ヴィトラ）は、世界初のプラスチック一体成型の椅子として現在でも高い評価を得ている。
ミッドセンチュリーを代表するデザイナーのひとりである。

アクリル球体に閉じ込められた神秘的なデザイン。シェード全体を透明なアクリルの球体で覆ったペンダントランプです。ボールチェーンで連結されたシェードは宙に浮いているようにも見え神秘的な光を放ちます。
