以下、紹介文

現代ドイツを代表する写真家のひとりトーマス・シュトゥルートの展覧会カタログ。2002年にダラス美術館(Dallas Museum of Art)他アメリカを巡回した時のもの。1954年にドイツ、ゲルデルンで生まれたシュトゥルートは、ドュッセルドルフ美術アカデミーで画家ゲルハルト・リヒター(Gerhard Richter)や写真家、ベッヒャー夫妻(Bernd and Hilla Becher)らに学び、1970年代後半から都市の写真に取り組み始める。本書ではヨーロッパやアメリカ、そして日本などで、ありふれた通りや建物をまっすぐに捉えた「街路」のシリーズ、そうした撮影などを通じて知り合った各地の人々をモデルとした「肖像」のシリーズ、さらには絵画を鑑賞している様子を撮影した「美術館」のシリーズなど、初期から2000年代までの作品を収録している。
