PROGRAMA DE EDUCACIÓN PARA LA SALUD Y CONCIENCIACIÓN COMUNITARIA DE LA UNIVERSIDAD PRIVADA MARÍA SERRANA

Abstract

The Health Education and Community Awareness Program (EpS) is an outreach and social outreach program aimed at the comprehensive training of students following the mainstreaming parameters. The purpose is to offer students of the María Serrana Private University of the Faculty of Health Sciences in Medicine, Nursing and Psychology Careers the opportunity to develop knowledge in health promotion and its link with the community. The Health Education and Community Awareness program arises as a result of a 2018 health situation analysis in the communities adjacent to the Loma Pyta neighborhood university, in which a high degree of ignorance was detected regarding behaviors favorable to health and the need to establish a health promotion and promotion strategy through health education. The actions and activities developed in the years 2019-2020 were presented: Initiation Research Workshop, Workshop on the management of Sexually Transmitted Infections, Training Workshop on the prevention of breast cancer "Pink Day", Multidisciplinary Workshop on Pulmonology , Update Day on the Expanded Immunization Program, Day to raise awareness and fight against breast cancer, Talks about hand washing, Educational talks of general interest, Talk about healthy eating, Vitamins Expo. The general perception of the program was highly positive, the community sectors participating in the program generated a highly favorable opinion matrix related to the contents and activities carried out in the community. It should be noted the highly pedagogical nature with which the activities were carried out according to the opinion of those attending the activities. It is contemplated to expand the scope of the health diagnosis to other communities in the sector in order to give greater coverage to the social projection of the university and its role of social responsibility.
